Just Released: DomainPlus – Everything You Need To Run Your Website at $15 / year.

A commonly overheard refrain throughout this wonderful Internet is "I keep the handful of domains that absolutely MUST be up all the time with easyDNS, and all the others I keep somewhere cheaper".

It must be a hassle, having some domains here, some over there, and dealing with the bargain basement outfits can't be a picnic either.

Now, there is no reason to put yourself through this added hassle: The "Domain plus" package from easyDNS is a fully functional domain registration or transfer, complete with DNS management, URL and email forwarding for $15/year.

Who should use Domain Plus?

It is perfect if you want to simply setup a domain and get it working with your web host, a blog or some third party app like Google mail. If there's no need for "redundancy overkill" like DNS anycast or failover, then you don't need to pay the extra money for those added capabilities.

How would you decide whether to use Domain Plus?

Ask yourself this question:

"If this domain were to go down for any amount of time, is anybody going to yell at me?"

If the answer is "probably not", then Domain Plus is the solution for you. (If on the other hand an outage of any duration or cause would cause consternation or inconvenience among: your staff, your customers, your readers or your boss; then spend the extra few bucks a year and go with a DNS Hosting package.)

At the end of the day Domain Plus is exactly what you need for personal blogs, non-mission critical domains, feeder websites, mini-sites or any other application that isn't holding up another piece of the Internet or your business.

[Resolved] easyDNS Support Desk Offline

Please note that our office connectivity is down due to issues with our upstream provider. We're working on getting things restored as soon as possible, but support turnaround may be impacted. None of our core services are affected by this outage; all domains will continue to resolve and email will continue to be delivered.

EDIT 12:31 PM: We're now back online and normal operation has resumed

xfr0 Slowness

We are experiencing slowness with our xfr0.easydns.com (secondary ingress point) node. We have made some config changes and reloaded the server. The reload forces a refresh of all the zones on the server. While this happens you may encounter slight delays in secondary updates being processed.

We apologize for any issues this may cause you.

[RESOLVED] easySMTP relay delays

We recently experienced a delay in the relay of email with our easySMTP service that has been attributed to a configuration bottleneck. This has since been resolved, and all email has been dequeued. During this issue, email was not lost, only delayed in it's relay to it's destination.

We apologise for the inconvenience.

[COMPLETED] Web interface offline for maintenance

Our sysAdmins are bringing down the easyDNS interface for the database migration as previously mentioned on the blog:

http://blog2.easydns.org/2012/05/02/database-maintenance/

During this time, access to the web interface will be disabled. We hope to have this migration completed as soon as possible.

We apologise for the inconvenience.

COMPLETED – The maintenance has been completed and the easyDNS interface is accessible at this time.

[RESOLVED] xfr0 Maintenance.

[RESOLVED] The maintenance to our secondary DNS ingress point, xfr0.easydns.com, has been completed. The nameserver is operational and is currently reloading. Updates may experience a slight delay as the server is doing a refresh of  all zones.

As always, we thank you for your patience and your continued support of easyDNS.

At midnight Saturday May 5, 2012 (11:59pm) we will be conducting maintenance on XFR0.EASYDNS.COM, the network ingress point for domains running their own primary nameservers to us.

The maintenance window is scheduled for 1 hour, ending at 1am May 6th, 2012. There will be a 5 minute period during that window during which any NOTIFY packets sent will not be received.

IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY DONE THIS:

Remember, if you haven't already added it to your local configs, you should be sending NOTIFY packets to xfr0.easydns.com (64.68.200.91). If you are using bind you would do this with an "also-notify" statement.

Let us know if you have any questions or concerns around this.

Sincerely,

easyDNS Support

Database Maintenance.

This Sunday, May 6 2012,  from 12am – 4am easyDNS will be conducting an upgrade to our core database systems. During this maintenance window the web interfaces at www.easydns.com and web.easydns.com will be unavailable as we perform a significant upgrade.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause our users.

Don't Fall For This Domain Registration Scam

I just found the following email sent to us in our easyDNS support queue:

From: Global Domains International
Subject: Regarding your domain name neverloseanotherdomain.net
Date: Tue, 01 May 2012 17:01:41 +0400
To: hostmaster@easydns.com From: Global Domains International

Hello, I have the .COM version of your domain name
neverloseanotherdomain.net for sale.

Would you be interested in buying the domain for $250 seeing as though
you own the same domain but in another extension ?

We can use Escrow for the transfer and I will cover the fees.
Let me know

Thankyou Shawn.

How The Scam Works

The first time I saw this one, I figured that the guy on the other end simply screwed up, because when I went to check the whois record for the domain I realized that he hadn't registered the domain yet!

[RESOLVED] DNS2 Miami Pop Issue

[RESOLVED]: The issue with our Miami POP has been solved. The machine is back online and reloading all of it's zone files.

We are experiencing an issue with our Miami POP for DNS2 and it will be dropped from BGP  announcement for DNS2 presently.

More as it comes in.

Maintenance: Subversion service

[MAINTENANCE]

We will need to perform a quick reboot of the servers running the subversion service to facilitate a move to newer hardware.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We will update the blog once the server is back up and running.
